John and his associates are very warm welcoming people. We’ve had amazing contact with him. He spoke better English than we as Dutch people did, which says a lot.
During the whole process there was clear communication about the project and together we made some awesome clothing. The quality is great and the clothes themselves were beautiful. Tôi đến tiệm may Surprise Tailor vì muốn đặt may 3 bộ vest cho đám cưới. Ban đầu, chủ tiệm rất niềm nở, nói tiếng Anh rất tốt và rất chuyên nghiệp trong việc giúp tôi chọn chất liệu. Tôi cảm thấy ông ấy hiểu được ý tưởng của tôi vì ông ấy đồng ý với mọi thứ tôi cho ông ấy xem và nói rõ tôi muốn gì. Sau khi lấy số đo và đặt cọc 50%, chúng tôi quay lại để thử vest và những chiếc áo sơ mi tôi muốn màu trắng lại thành màu xanh, bộ vest màu kem thì hoàn toàn không giống như tôi đã nói, tôi muốn một bộ vest rộng rãi chứ không phải bó sát. Quần cũng cần phải nới rộng và cần sửa đổi, nhưng chủ yếu là bộ vest màu kem cần phải may lại vì nó quá nhỏ so với yêu cầu của tôi. Chủ tiệm khiến chúng tôi cảm thấy như thể bộ vest phải trông như vậy, nhưng chúng tôi nói rằng chúng tôi muốn nó theo ý mình chứ không phải theo ý ông ấy. Ông ấy khiến tôi và vị hôn phu của tôi cảm thấy rất khó chịu và nói rằng chúng tôi không thể cứ thay đổi ý kiến, trong khi chúng tôi không hề làm vậy, chúng tôi đã cho ông ấy xem ảnh và nói rõ chính xác những gì chúng tôi muốn. I went to surprise tailor as I was looking to get 3 suits made for my wedding. To start with the owner was warm and spoke great English and was very professional with helping me choose the materials and I felt like he knew my vision as he agreed with everything I showed him and said I wanted. After my measurements and 50% deposit we came back in to try the suits on and the shirts that I wanted white were blue, the cream suit was nothing like I explained I wanted a loose fit suit not a tight suit. The pants all needed loosening also and evening needed alterations but mainly the cream suit needed to be redone as it was made too small for what I asked for. The owner made us feel like it was meant to look like this but we said we wanted it the way we said not the way he wants it to be. He made myself and my fiancé feel very uncomfortable and he said that we can’t keep changing our minds when we didn’t we showed him photos and told him exactly what we wanted. It wasn’t a great experience after we decided to go with him for the suits he’s attitude shifted and wasn’t very professional or as he was at the beginning. As it’s a tailed suit you expect to get it the way you want and the owner to agree with you and own up to his mistakes but instead made us feel shitty the whole time until it was right. The end result is good but we had to keep changing until we got what we wanted. The prices were great but if I could give the owner any tips it would be to treat his clients the same from start to finish and they are always right as it’s their custom made clothing after all.

Highly recommend! Mr John is an expert tailor, great communicator and made us awesome shirts. Very fast 24 hr turnaround from being fitted until the shirts were ready. We only ordered two shirts but they keep your measurements on file so that you can order more items in the future. Very wide selection of fabrics to choose from. Great hospitality too with free water being provided while being fitted and when picking the shirts up. Definitely worth heading to Surprise Tailors for all of your clothing needs in Hoi An. I bought a custom-made dress for a wedding and I'm very happy with the result. The fabric is lovely. It cost around €60 and was made in less than 48 hours. It's a shame I wasn't assisted by the same person throughout the entire process, but overall it was a good experience.

I stumbled upon Surprise Tailor while exploring Hoi An looking for a tailor. I was impressed by his clothes on display and his great communication skills. I had some photos on my phone of what I was looking for and John was able to visualise what I wanted. John was able to produce high quality clothing and had no issues fitting the clothes to my size. We had to make a few adjustments to the final product which were not an issue. I’m really happy with the final product. I purchased 3 suits, linen shirts, linen shorts and linen pants.

If I could give John and the tailors at surprise tailors 100 stars I would! The tailoring is so professional, really high quality with amazing customisation and attention to detail. It’s a really relaxing environment in the shop and they really listened to everything I asked for and delivered it perfectly. They’re all such friendly open people and I felt completely comfortable with them. The prices were really great and not at the expense of the quality of the tailoring or fabrics. I couldn’t stop getting more made by them! the turnaround time was impressively quick and communication was brilliant. Next time I’m in hoi an I’ll be back! I got a skirt, three piece suit, shirt and linen trousers made and they were all flawless 10/10.

These guys have magic powers of fashion- I am blown away!!! I got a suit, trousers and a dress made and they are all absolutely stunning and the designs I showed them came out so perfectly. Everyone here is so welcoming, kind and patient, making sure you have the time to make decisions so your clothes come out exactly how you want, and they have great prices- couldn’t recommend enough. The shop is very organised and you always feel well taken care of. They also keep your measurements on file so you’re able to order clothes from home and have them shipped to you later. I’ve left this shop very happy and very stylish :))

Johnny got me such a great suit, I immediately bought another! I bought a few shirts and two suits in total and am very happy with them. The material seems to be very high quality and the craftsmanship is very good. My wife even bought two dresses which was completely unplanned but after seeing the quality of the work, we could not resist. It was very easy communicating with Johnny on WhatsApp and the pricing / logistics of getting the items was clear and straightforward. Highly recommended and I will be back.

Had such a great experience with John and his team. I walked in as I was referred by a friend who had previously visited. I showed him my designs and told me exactly what I wanted. We talked through fabric and specific designs. The lady’s in the shop were super helpful and everyone was super kind. They helped alter things that I wanted to change and got it done with in four hours overall took about two days tow have 8 items made. Overall such a great experience would definitely recommend!!!

First fitting went absolutely perfectly. Tried on the suits less than 24 hr after we came in. Everything fits amazing and exactly how I imaged it. Everybody in the shop so friendly and helpful. John is outstanding, as is his staff. They know what they are talking about and what they are doing. Seven of us went in for two suits and a suit coat. The products were superb and all of us kept coming back with more things for him to create. I had a dress and a skirt made. Loved it so much, I had another dress, skirt, and pants made. All linen by the way. When I wasn’t sure what I wanted, he provided guidance. You could tell by his questions he has been doing this for years. Nothing that they measured needed altering. My husband’s suit is beyond exceptional! He only planned on getting the jacket and up with pants and two bamboo shirts. He did not try to upsale us. The finished product was all we needed to want more.

After doing some research online, I visited John at Surprise Tailor.
I had a navy blue three-piece suit made, along with some shirts and an additional pair of gray pants.
After the first fitting, everything fit well, so I ordered more pants and shirts because I have a hard time finding well-fitting pants.
Only time will tell about the quality, but the work was done quickly and looks promising.
I fully recommend the experience to anyone wanting a suit. John speaks great English, so I felt more confident and understood here than at other tailor shops.

Fantastic experience working with Jon and his team. Helped me pick both the fabric and color for two suits, and created the exact vision I had for both. I met John on the bus. I overheard him telling two ladies he owned a tailor shop on my way to Da Nang. We exchanged info and I went to the shop on Saturday. My excitement was matched by the final product. I got six pieces. I had to make a few alternations, but the look just like the design I sent John. I was worried they would not be able to get the style down or fit would be right. But I left satisfied.

We had a great time getting fitted for tailored outfits. The team were great and open to making alterations whilst also offering their own suggestions for what would look good. My fiancée also loved her outfits. Very satisfied! Cost about £310 for 3 piece suit, 2 piece women’s vest suit, formal evening gown, linen shirt/trouser set, linen blouse, dress alteration (and a tie!).

I had two dresses made after showing them some pictures of what I would like made.
They created both dresses in less than 24 hours and even managed to make some adjustments quickly for me when my plans changed and I had to leave the city earlier than planned. I’m so happy with the results and it was at a very fair price. They also have a fitting room making it easier to try your clothes on and are much less pushy than a lot of the tailors in hoi an.

We visited Surprise Tailor on the recommendation of a friend and the experience lived up to expectations. John and the staff were so helpful in finding the right materials, colours and patterns for the items we wanted and at a very fair price too. We loved everything we ordered on our first appointment so much we ordered even more.

Deserving of their 5 star rating. Speed and quality paired with excellent customer service. I loved the tailored suit, I have a very high expectation on it. This round I tried Italian style. Thank God I met John the owner of the shop, able to speak very good English, good in the fashion sense. Expert advice and I'm very satisfied with the final product too. 9pcs (2 complete suit, 3 shirt, extra trousers only took me about 24hrs, fast, efficient, awesome. We are very pleased with the clothes we got made by John! Suprise tailor was able to make all the garments we wanted. We only showed a picture of the item of clothing we wanted, some measurements and the next day the clothes were ready to tailor perfectly to our body. I'm a tall girl and it's hard to find pants that are long enough, so it's a real steal when the pants here are tailored and cost a quarter of the price for pants as good as maxmara. After we tried the clothes on day two, we had to order 6 new garments, because the quality was perfect. We left the store with 15 items in total and don't regret a single thing! Come here! Incredibly good quality and good price!

I found this place from the web ahead before landing in Hoi An, I got in touch with the shop and they immediately helped me finding the best solution according to my idea of suit, fabric and fitting. Once on the spot it took less than 48h to get the 3 pcs suit and 3 shirts ready for pick up!

I started talking to John on my bus ride to Da Nang and he told me that he owns a tailor shop. Since I was planning on getting a tailor-made suit anyway, I stopped by his shop the next day.
The consultation and communication went smoothly and I am extremely satisfied with the end results.
It is also possible to then send the clothes home; someone else will then come by and everything required will be filled out together. I hope everything gets home safely.

I had a fantastic experience here, I called in the morning and I had 4 clothing pieces ready by 5pm the same day.
They also said, because they have my measurements, if I want to order from home they will make and post to me.

In the end me and my partner had many many many clothes made.
My partner had suits, business and linen shirts, chinos pants, shorts made. I then had shirts and scarves made. We also expressed interest in having winter coats made. The owner was very helpful and the next day brought us samples of woolen fabrics. The clothes were ready the next day and ready to be tried on and modified. We dealt with the coats at the last minute and they were made for us the same day - very quick :). However, there was no time left for any desired alterations (my partner's coats were bigger). I have to say that overall we are very happy with both the materials and the workmanship. (I am a bit of a perfectionist and found differences from my requirements with the tailored shirts, I wanted them longer in the back than in the front).
Since we had a lot of bags, we were offered shipping. We have not used the shipping now. We will definitely consider shopping remotely in the future as the prices are more than reasonable :).

I went to Surprise Tailors with an image of a dress I wanted and they created the most amazing dress! They took my measurements in the afternoon and the next morning they had made the dress and it was the perfect fit! Surprise Tailors were a lot better value than other tailor shops I looked at and the quality is amazing. John and his team are lovely and I would definitely recommend!

We wanted to use the opportunity to get an affordable handmade suit in Hoi An when we got there. We met John in the Bus to Hoi An. Our Taxi Driver also recommended a tailor to us. We compared the two and thought that Surprise Tailor seemed more legitimate so we went there. We got some good recommendations. I finally chose a navy blue suit instead of a grey one and a white shirt. John was very straightforward and you could tell that he has experience. After that he took the measurements. Around 24 hours later we came back to get the suits and were very satisfied with the result. A tie was also included which cannot be seen on the foto. Both of us had to do little adjustments which were finished two hours later. We payed each 185 dollars for a three pieced suit, a tie and a shirt.

Initially, I only ordered a suit & jumpsuit but after the first fitting felt safe enough to add two silk tops and a silk dress. Overall, I was extremely impressed by the jumpsuit, dress and tops. I absolutely love them! Even my bf, who did not plan on tailor anything, ended up with 3 shirts, a suit and 3 piece suit to which John added a tie for free.
John and the team were always very welcoming and tailored everything within 24 hours. More than that, he even helped us ship everything to Germany.
Not so good:
Sadly, the suit felt a bit underwhelming. I had already researched a lot beforehand, as I wanted something different from the basic women’s blazer you see on all the photos (instead: double-breasted, heavier material and buttons, longer cut). I even brought pictures with me. As you can see in the picture, this was not the result. The woman consulted me regarding the fabric and cut, but the result felt like a weird mixture of her consultation/their typical blazer cut and half of my expectations.
Overall I can recommend this tailor, as our experience was very good all in all and we loved 90% of the results. Just be careful with compromising.

Had a great experience with John. We’d been brought into other tailors off the street where they rush you through to buy something. John, however, takes the time to talk to you about what you want designed and is eager to give you exactly what you want even if it’s a slightly unusual design. His english is great so you can really explain what you want. There was a good selection of patterns and colours. John and Vi are so talented and have a great eye for what goes well together. I got three linen pants and a suit (shirt, pants and jacket) and eventually also ordered three silk scarves for my mother.
The quality of my suit and especially the fit was exactly how I wanted it and after the first try on, everything was perfect.
The prices are extremely fair and I was able to get much more than I had expected for my budget.

My girlfriend and I found this shop and ended up getting a slip dress, a tree piece tuxedo, 2 piece suit and casual shirt. All of which were made within 24 hours of being fitted to being perfectly tailored. We were a little hesitant for which tailor to go for at first but are so glad we chose this one as John, the main man was super friendly and so quick and efficient with knowing his stuff and being overall very helpful. Verified Amazing tailor!!! Vi var to danske piger, som skulle havde lavet lidt af hvert. Virkelig et godt sted! De var så søde da vi kom ind, og de gjorde alt hvad de kunne får at få vores drømme ønsker til at gå i opfyldelse! Meget dygtige og gode til deres arbejde. Verified Virkelig god skrædder! Det var en så god oplevelse at få lavet tøj hos Surprise Tailor. Vores 2 venner havde anbefalet det fra deres rejse 2 år siden, og det skuffede ikke. De 2 damer var så søde til at spare med os om ideer. Jeg fik lavet 4 stykker tøj herinde, og det sad perfekt. Da vi prøvede tøjet på første gang fik vi rettet det til det var perfekt. Ingen sure miner over at vi ville have justeret, altid smilende og søde. Kan kun anbefale det her sted.

Verified Dreams come true The service overall was excellent. I got everything I hoped for, and in addition they directed me to a shop that made custom leather boots for me. I showed them my Pinterest pictures, and they brought my ideas to life. In the end, they adjusted the trousers a few more times so that they fit me perfectly. I warmly recommend this place.

Verified Absolutely amazing service. The staff are well experienced and made sure I picked the right colours and best materials for what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier with the clothes they are such good quality and fit me perfectly. Any corrections I wanted were done and the price was unbeatable!
