If I could give John and the tailors at surprise tailors 100 stars I would! The tailoring is so professional, really high quality with amazing customisation and attention to detail. It’s a really relaxing environment in the shop and they really listened to everything I asked for and delivered it perfectly. These guys have magic powers of fashion- I am blown away!!! I got a suit, trousers and a dress made and they are all absolutely stunning and the designs I showed them came out so perfectly. Everyone here is so welcoming, kind and patient, making sure you have the time to make decisions so your clothes come out exactly how you want, and they have great prices- couldn’t recommend enough. The shop is very organised and you always feel well taken care of. They also keep your measurements on file so you’re able to order clothes from home and have them shipped to you later. Johnny got me such a great suit, I immediately bought another! I bought a few shirts and two suits in total and am very happy with them. The material seems to be very high quality and the craftsmanship is very good. My wife even bought two dresses which was completely unplanned but after seeing the quality of the work, we could not resist. It was very easy communicating with Johnny on WhatsApp and the pricing / logistics of getting the items was clear and straightforward. Highly recommended and I will be back.

Had such a great experience with John and his team. I walked in as I was referred by a friend who had previously visited. I showed him my designs and told me exactly what I wanted. We talked through fabric and specific designs. The lady’s in the shop were super helpful and everyone was super kind. They helped alter things that I wanted to change and got it done with in four hours overall took about two days tow have 8 items made. Overall such a great experience would definitely recommend!!!

First fitting went absolutely perfectly. Tried on the suits less than 24 hr after we came in. Everything fits amazing and exactly how I imaged it. Everybody in the shop so friendly and helpful. John is outstanding, as is his staff. They know what they are talking about and what they are doing. Seven of us went in for two suits and a suit coat. The products were superb and all of us kept coming back with more things for him to create. I had a dress and a skirt made. Loved it so much, I had another dress, skirt, and pants made. All linen by the way. When I wasn’t sure what I wanted, he provided guidance. You could tell by his questions he has been doing this for years. Nothing that they measured needed altering. My husband’s suit is beyond exceptional! He only planned on getting the jacket and up with pants and two bamboo shirts. He did not try to upsale us. The finished product was all we needed to want more.

I had a navy blue three-piece suit made, along with some shirts and an additional pair of gray pants.
After the first fitting, everything fit well, so I ordered more pants and shirts because I have a hard time finding well-fitting pants.
Only time will tell about the quality, but the work was done quickly and looks promising.
I fully recommend the experience to anyone wanting a suit. John speaks great English, so I felt more confident and understood here than at other tailor shops.

I met John on the bus. I overheard him telling two ladies he owned a tailor shop on my way to Da Nang. We exchanged info and I went to the shop on Saturday. My excitement was matched by the final product. I got six pieces. I had to make a few alternations, but the look just like the design I sent John. I was worried they would not be able to get the style down or fit would be right. But I left satisfied.

They created both dresses in less than 24 hours and even managed to make some adjustments quickly for me when my plans changed and I had to leave the city earlier than planned. I’m so happy with the results and it was at a very fair price. They also have a fitting room making it easier to try your clothes on and are much less pushy than a lot of the tailors in hoi an.

We are very pleased with the clothes we got made by John! Suprise tailor was able to make all the garments we wanted. We only showed a picture of the item of clothing we wanted, some measurements and the next day the clothes were ready to tailor perfectly to our body. I'm a tall girl and it's hard to find pants that are long enough, so it's a real steal when the pants here are tailored and cost a quarter of the price for pants as good as maxmara. After we tried the clothes on day two, we had to order 6 new garments, because the quality was perfect. We left the store with 15 items in total and don't regret a single thing! Come here! Incredibly good quality and good price!

I found this place from the web ahead before landing in Hoi An, I got in touch with the shop and they immediately helped me finding the best solution according to my idea of suit, fabric and fitting. Once on the spot it took less than 48h to get the 3 pcs suit and 3 shirts ready for pick up!
John is a real gentleman as well as among the best craftsman in town, strongly recommend 10/10

I recently had a fantastic experience at Surprise Tailor. The attention to detail in their work is impeccable. The staff is not only skilled but also incredibly friendly, making the whole process enjoyable. My outfit was perfectly tailored, and the turnaround time was impressive. I started talking to John on my bus ride to Da Nang and he told me that he owns a tailor shop. Since I was planning on getting a tailor-made suit anyway, I stopped by his shop the next day.
The consultation and communication went smoothly and I am extremely satisfied with the end results.
It is also possible to then send the clothes home; someone else will then come by and everything required will be filled out together. I hope everything gets home safely.
Conclusion: I am extremely satisfied and positively surprised by John and his team. Thank you.

I had a fantastic experience here, I called in the morning and I had 4 clothing pieces ready by 5pm the same day.
They also said, because they have my measurements, if I want to order from home they will make and post to me.
Would definitely recommend. John and the ladies are lovely ☺️

In the end me and my partner had many many many clothes made.
My partner had suits, business and linen shirts, chinos pants, shorts made. I then had shirts and scarves made. We also expressed interest in having winter coats made. The owner was very helpful and the next day brought us samples of woolen fabrics. The clothes were ready the next day and ready to be tried on and modified. We dealt with the coats at the last minute and they were made for us the same day - very quick :). However, there was no time left for any desired alterations (my partner's coats were bigger). I have to say that overall we are very happy with both the materials and the workmanship. (I am a bit of a perfectionist and found differences from my requirements with the tailored shirts, I wanted them longer in the back than in the front).
Since we had a lot of bags, we were offered shipping. We have not used the shipping now. We will definitely consider shopping remotely in the future as the prices are more than reasonable :).

During our stay in Hoi An we were welcomed into the Surprise TAILOR boutique to make tailor-made suits.
We are very satisfied with the end result; we were able to personalize the cut of the suits as well as the inside of the jackets.

Great and very professional tailor gave me a very relevant price compared to other tailors. He also saved my sizes so i can get future suits made and shipped to me in sweden. Highly recommend!

I went to Surprise Tailors with an image of a dress I wanted and they created the most amazing dress! They took my measurements in the afternoon and the next morning they had made the dress and it was the perfect fit! Surprise Tailors were a lot better value than other tailor shops I looked at and the quality is amazing. John and his team are lovely and I would definitely recommend!

We wanted to use the opportunity to get an affordable handmade suit in Hoi An when we got there. We met John in the Bus to Hoi An. Our Taxi Driver also recommended a tailor to us. We compared the two and thought that Surprise Tailor seemed more legitimate so we went there. We got some good recommendations. I finally chose a navy blue suit instead of a grey one and a white shirt. John was very straightforward and you could tell that he has experience. After that he took the measurements. Around 24 hours later we came back to get the suits and were very satisfied with the result. A tie was also included which cannot be seen on the foto. Both of us had to do little adjustments which were finished two hours later. We payed each 185 dollars for a three pieced suit, a tie and a shirt.

John and his employees were available to answer any questions we had and patiently worked with us to find the ideal offer. The three piece suit and shirt we both received were ready within 24 hours. The results were marvelous. Customization requests were implemented within a few hours after the try on. The contact was very friendly and communicating in English was no problem. Overall, highly recommended.

We were overwhelmed by the amounts of tailors in Hoi An, tried to do our homework beforehand but John approached us on arrival in Hoi an, so we just went with it.
The positive:
Initially, I only ordered a suit & jumpsuit but after the first fitting felt safe enough to add two silk tops and a silk dress. Overall, I was extremely impressed by the jumpsuit, dress and tops. I absolutely love them! Even my bf, who did not plan on tailor anything, ended up with 3 shirts, a suit and 3 piece suit to which John added a tie for free.
John and the team were always very welcoming and tailored everything within 24 hours. More than that, he even helped us ship everything to Germany.
Not so good:
Sadly, the suit felt a bit underwhelming. I had already researched a lot beforehand, as I wanted something different from the basic women’s blazer you see on all the photos (instead: double-breasted, heavier material and buttons, longer cut). I even brought pictures with me. As you can see in the picture, this was not the result. The woman consulted me regarding the fabric and cut, but the result felt like a weird mixture of her consultation/their typical blazer cut and half of my expectations.
Overall I can recommend this tailor, as our experience was very good all in all and we loved 90% of the results. Just be careful with compromising.

My friends and I had an amazing time! Overall we got four dresses and two suits and they were ready so much faster than we expected and so high quality! We’re very happy with our new clothes and the price was very good. John was very helpful and kind as well, highly recommend!

Had a great experience with John. We’d been brought into other tailors off the street where they rush you through to buy something. John, however, takes the time to talk to you about what you want designed and is eager to give you exactly what you want even if it’s a slightly unusual design. He speaks really good English which also helps the tailoring process. Superb quality at a great price.

So happy to have met John! We were recommended through a friend. He was a super cool dude who was completely open to make something a little more unconventional. His english is great so you can really explain what you want. There was a good selection of patterns and colours. He was happy to make adjustments to the high-waisted pants and was super quick making it in two days. Would definitely recommend to get any kind of suit tailoring!

I couldn’t recommend this tailor more! The relationship I built with this family business over only a few days is incredible.
John and Vi are so talented and have a great eye for what goes well together. I got three linen pants and a suit (shirt, pants and jacket) and eventually also ordered three silk scarves for my mother.
The quality of my suit and especially the fit was exactly how I wanted it and after the first try on, everything was perfect.
The prices are extremely fair and I was able to get much more than I had expected for my budget.

John was really good with helping me design the wedding suit I wanted. Everything fit very well first time. We also got some silk boxer shorts made for groomsmen with embroidery, made for a great gift. Fair price, great English and all the staff were really friendly

My girlfriend and I found this shop and ended up getting a slip dress, a tree piece tuxedo, 2 piece suit and casual shirt. All of which were made within 24 hours of being fitted to being perfectly tailored. We were a little hesitant for which tailor to go for at first but are so glad we chose this one as John, the main man was super friendly and so quick and efficient with knowing his stuff and being overall very helpful. Everything fits perfect and is exactly how we asked. Would highly recommend.- also great Banh mi next door for a quick snack!
